The CSE department was founded in 1956. For more than 50 years, we CSE people have built a history of excellence in education and discovery, and our department is now one of the most prestigious research and education bases in the area of industrial process control in China. National and international research labs and centers are instituted in our CSE department, which includes the institute of industrial process control, the institute of automatic instrumentation, the institute of cyber-systems and control, the state key laboratory of industrial control technology, the national engineering research center for industrial automation, and an experiment and teaching center for automation. The CSE department currently has over 90 faculty members with 29 full professors and research fellows, which includes 1 academician of China National Engineering Research Institute, 3 winners for the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 2 distinguished professors for Chang Jiang (Cheung Kong) Scholars Program. Our current student enrollment has about 400 Undergraduate, 400 Master’s and 200 Doctoral.

IEEE PIMRC is one of the premier conferences in the wireless research arena and has a long history of bringing together academia, industry and regulatory bodies.  Today, it has become one of IEEE Communication Society's flagship conferences in telecommunications. Ph.D student in our Department, Yongmin Zhang under supervised by Prof. Jiming Chen and Prof. Youxian Sun, received the PIMRC 2012 Best Paper Award. The title of paper is Distributed Adaptive Sampling by Rechargeable Sensor Nodes with Limited Battery Capacity. IEEE PIMRC 2012 total received around 1200 submissions, and finally has 447 accepted paper, only 2 of them award best papers.
